Théâtre des Petites Âmes

Created in 2007, Le Théâtre des Petites Âmes (Small Souls) was born from a desire to offer small scale puppet, object and mask theatre productions. Stories and dreams come to life in a small scale theatre format where reality and imagination coalesce. Micro-universes are created before small audiences to provide an intimate contact with the spectator. Our productions are available in English, French and Spanish. Our first mandate is to offer theatre for small children. This no worry formula is tailored to young children between the ages of two and five. The Théâtre des Petites Âmes will also offer productions for adult audiences to cater to the child within. Quality productions for children between the ages of two and five are few and far between. The small children chapter of our company aims to meet this demand. At this age the child is at a stage in his development where imagination is boundless. With stories, images and music we nurture this secret world where anything is possible.

Isabelle Payant Artistic and General Director

Since 1998, Isabelle Payant has been working as an actress. Following her training at the Collège Lionel-Groulx she stumbled upon the world of puppetry and its infinite possibilities. Over the course of six years she worked with Le Théâtre de L’Oeil on La Félicité/Dear Fizzy, Un secret de Polichinelle and Le Jardin de Babel, touring across Canada and the USA. She was recently seen performing in Woânda from the Théâtre à l’Envers. As an actress, she has travelled around Quebec with the Théâtre Parminou. In 2000, her work was recognized in L’honnête Fille at the Théâtre Denise-Pelletier in Montreal. Her voice work can be heard on the radio and on screen as a female voice in several movies and shows including translations of Once upon a time in Mexico, The Descent and After the Sunset.

Wishing to pursue projects of her own, she created in 2007 Le Théâtre des Petites Âmes which she directs with Stéphane Guy.

"We wish to honour the Anishinaabe, the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, the Wendat, and the Neutral Nation who are the traditional custodians of the land upon which we stand and the waters that flow through it. It is our privilege to share this land, which has been the site of imagination since the beginning of human experience.

Hermione Presents ~ SpringWorks is located on land governed by both the Dish With One Spoon Wampum Belt Covenant of 1701 and the Huron Tract Treaty of 1827. We are mindful of broken covenants and the need for us to respectfully listen, to learn from our mutual history and to strive continuously for reconciliation at all levels.

The responsibility to nurture this land and protect the future falls to us all and in so doing, we actively honour the wisdom of those who came before us."
